A therapy intensive is an extended mental health session—typically 3 to 4 hours—designed for people who prefer focused, in-depth work rather than weekly appointments.
Many clients choose intensives to make meaningful progress on specific goals. This may include processing emotions related to complex trauma, dissociation, upsetting events, anger, or betrayal. Intensives can also support work on the emotional components of physical pain, as well as releasing phobias and other blocks that impact daily life and relationships.
Intensives are designed for transformation. The extended time frame allows for deeper exploration, emotional release, and resolution of challenges that may feel slow or fragmented in traditional weekly sessions. In many cases, a single 3–4 hour session can accomplish the amount of work typically spread across 4 to 6 regular therapy sessions.
In typical weekly sessions, it’s easy to stay on the surface or save the hardest topics for the last few minutes. Often, you leave without fully addressing what matters most.
Therapy intensives are different. With 3–4 hours of uninterrupted, focused time, you can finally dive deep into the issues that have been holding you back. There’s space to explore, release, and move forward—without rushing or stopping early.
Each intensive is customized just for you. Together, we’ll set clear goals for the session, and I’ll guide you using techniques like somatic tapping and brainspotting to unlock the blocks preventing progress.

For a whole day intensive, we meet for 3 to 4 hours in the morning, take a longer break of 1.5 to 2 hours, and then have another 3 to 4 hour intensive in the afternoon.
Most people complete two 3 hour sessions for a total of 6 hours.
The maximum recommended for one day is 8 hours.
The work accomplished during a whole day intensive is equivalent to the work accomplished during 12 to 15 weekly sessions.
Some people want to fully focus on working through a variety of things so they will schedule a multi-day intensive. A multi-day intensive is usually 2 or more days of 6 to 8 hours per day of therapy.
It may also be a series of half day sessions where we meet in the mornings, then you rest in the afternoon. We would meet again the following day for another half day intensive.
Depending on your goals, some of those hours may also include going to a park or even going to a mall.
