Before anything else, I bring the foundational training every licensed counselor receives in graduate school: client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques. These aren't add-ons — they're the groundwork for how I listen, how I structure sessions, and how I help you move toward what you want.
What makes an intensive different isn't the absence of these foundations. It's what gets layered on top of them.
Many of the patterns that bring people to an intensive live below the level of conscious thought — in the body, in the nervous system, in responses formed long before language. To reach those patterns, I draw on additional approaches:
Somatic Tapping — working with the body's energy meridians to release stored emotional charge
Brainspotting — using eye position to access and process where the brain holds unresolved experiences
Parts Work (IFS) — understanding and integrating the different "parts" of yourself that may be in conflict. In Tapping, these parts are called aspects.
In-Vivo & Experiential Work — taking the work outside the office when it serves the goal — a beach, a bridge, a public space
No two intensives look the same. About a week before your intensive, we'll meet online for a goal-setting session to talk through what you're working on and develop a personalized treatment plan — drawing from whichever combination of these tools fits your goals. Some clients benefit most from somatic approaches; others need a structured, cognitive framework; many benefit from a blend.
About a week after your intensive, we'll meet again online for a follow-up session to review any insights that surfaced during your time together and address any questions that have come up since.
